Pellet Therapy

At any stage of life, hormonal imbalance can cause frustrating symptoms including fatigue, mood swings, sexual dysfunction and more. Bioidentical hormone replacement therapy using pellets is an effective, low-maintenance solution for many patients. At Hybrid Medical Solution, Boca Raton patients can pursue bioidentical HRT through Biote, a leading pellet therapy option which causes minimal side effects and treats a range of hormonal imbalance issues.

What is Bioidentical HRT?

Bioidentical hormone replacement therapy (BHRT) is a treatment that uses plant-based hormones designed to mimic natural hormones as closely as possible. Bioidentical hormones are so similar to human hormones that the body cannot distinguish the difference between the two. This enhances the effectiveness of BHRT with little to no side effects. At any stage of life, hormonal imbalances can cause frustrating symptoms including fatigue, mood swings, weight gain, loss of muscle mass, sexual dysfunction, and more. Unfortunately, very few physicians adequately treat hormone imbalances. The use of bioidentical hormones has been slow to increase despite general agreement in the scientific literature that bioidentical hormone replacement is significantly better than using non-human hormones.

There are many forms of BHRT available including creams, troches, injections, and pellets. The lack of adequate and sufficient training in inserting pellets, the application of creams and injections have become more popular, however, pellet therapy is the most effective.

Bioidentical hormone replacement therapy using pellets is an effective, low maintenance, and affordable solution for many patients.  Here at hybrid medical solution, we not only manage your hormones but we also manage all aspects of your health and wellbeing.  It is important that the provider who treats your hormones is also the one who manages all your other health conditions and medications as many aspects of hormone replacement overlap other systems and conditions.

How do I know if I am a good candidate for Hormone Therapy near me?

The best way to determine if you are a good candidate for hormone therapy is to consult with a healthcare provider specializing in hormone balance and therapy in the Boca Raton area. They will assess your symptoms, health history, and hormone levels to recommend the most appropriate treatment.

What should I expect during my first consultation for Pellet Therapy?

During your first consultation for pellet therapy in Boca Raton, your healthcare provider will discuss your symptoms and health history and conduct necessary evaluations to determine your hormone levels. This initial assessment helps in crafting a personalized treatment plan suited to your specific needs.

How do I know if I need hormone pellet therapy?

You may benefit from hormone pellet therapy if you're experiencing symptoms of hormone imbalance such as fatigue, weight gain, decreased libido, mood changes, brain fog, hot flashes, night sweats, or loss of muscle mass. These symptoms commonly occur during menopause, andropause (male menopause), or due to other hormonal imbalances. At Hybrid Medical Solution, we conduct comprehensive hormone testing and evaluate your symptoms during your consultation. Our providers will determine if pellet therapy is appropriate based on your lab results, medical history, and treatment goals.

What's the difference between pellet therapy and other hormone replacement options?

Pellet therapy offers several advantages over creams, patches, pills, and injections. Unlike creams and patches that require daily application, pellets only need insertion every 3-6 months. They provide consistent hormone levels 24/7 without the fluctuations seen with injections or oral hormones. Pellets bypass the liver, reducing side effects, and deliver hormones directly into the bloodstream as needed based on your activity level and stress. At Hybrid Medical Solution, we offer all forms of BHRT and will help you choose the delivery method that best fits your lifestyle and medical needs.

Does pellet insertion hurt?

The pellet insertion procedure is minimally invasive and well-tolerated by most patients. At Hybrid Medical Solution, we use local anesthesia to numb the insertion site (typically your hip or buttock area), so you'll only feel slight pressure during the procedure. The entire process takes about 10-15 minutes. Afterward, you may experience minor soreness or bruising at the insertion site for a few days, similar to getting a shot. Most patients return to normal activities the same day with just a few temporary restrictions on strenuous exercise and water immersion.

How long do hormone pellets last?

Hormone pellets typically last 3-6 months, depending on several factors including your activity level, stress, body mass, and individual hormone metabolism. Women's estrogen pellets generally last 3-4 months, while testosterone pellets for both men and women often last 4-6 months. At Hybrid Medical Solution, we monitor your symptoms and hormone levels to determine the optimal timing for your next insertion. Some patients need pellets more frequently at first, with intervals sometimes lengthening once hormone balance is achieved.

When will I start feeling better after pellet insertion?

Most patients begin noticing improvements within 2-4 weeks after pellet insertion, with full effects felt by 4-6 weeks. You may experience increased energy, improved mood, better sleep, enhanced libido, and reduced hot flashes as your hormone levels optimize. At Hybrid Medical Solution in Boca Raton, we schedule follow-up appointments to monitor your progress and symptoms. Some patients feel benefits sooner, while others take a bit longer. We may adjust your pellet dosage at subsequent insertions to optimize your results based on how you respond.

Are there any side effects of pellet therapy?

Pellet therapy is generally safe with minimal side effects when properly dosed and monitored. Potential side effects include minor bruising or discomfort at the insertion site, temporary fluid retention, acne, mood changes, or increased facial hair in women receiving testosterone. Rarely, pellet extrusion can occur. At Hybrid Medical Solution, we carefully calculate your pellet dosage based on lab work and monitor you regularly to minimize side effects. Serious complications are rare, and most patients tolerate pellet therapy very well with significant symptom improvement.

Is pellet therapy covered by insurance?

Most insurance plans do not cover hormone pellet therapy, as it's considered an elective wellness treatment. However, the initial consultation and lab work may be covered depending on your plan. At Hybrid Medical Solution, we provide transparent pricing for our pellet therapy services and accept various payment methods including HSA/FSA accounts. Many patients find the benefits of consistent hormone balance and improved quality of life well worth the investment. Contact our office at (561) 898-0020 for current pricing information.

Can men get hormone pellet therapy?

Absolutely! Testosterone pellet therapy is highly effective for men experiencing andropause (male menopause) or low testosterone. At Hybrid Medical Solution, we treat many male patients with pellet therapy to address symptoms like fatigue, decreased muscle mass, weight gain, reduced libido, erectile dysfunction, mood changes, and cognitive decline. Testosterone pellets can significantly improve energy, strength, mental clarity, and sexual function. We conduct thorough testing and monitoring to ensure safe and effective treatment tailored to your individual needs.

How much does pellet therapy cost in Boca Raton?

The cost of pellet therapy at Hybrid Medical Solution varies based on whether you need testosterone, estrogen, or both, as well as your individualized dosing requirements. Generally, each pellet insertion ranges from several hundred to over a thousand dollars depending on the hormones and dosages. Since pellets last 3-6 months, most patients budget for 2-4 insertions per year. Your initial consultation includes comprehensive lab testing to establish baseline hormone levels. Contact us at (561) 898-0020 to discuss specific pricing and payment options for your personalized treatment plan.

What should I avoid after pellet insertion?

After pellet insertion at Hybrid Medical Solution, we recommend avoiding strenuous lower body exercise, heavy lifting, and activities that involve repetitive bending for 3-5 days to prevent pellet extrusion. You should also avoid swimming, hot tubs, and baths for 3-4 days (showers are fine). Keep the insertion site clean and dry, and avoid touching or rubbing the area. Most patients can return to work immediately and resume normal daily activities. We provide detailed aftercare instructions and are available if you have any concerns during your recovery.

Can I combine pellet therapy with other treatments?

Yes! At Hybrid Medical Solution, we often combine pellet therapy with other treatments for comprehensive wellness optimization. Many patients benefit from pairing hormone optimization with weight loss programs (including Semaglutide), peptide therapy, IV therapy, nutrition consulting, and preventive cardiology services. Balanced hormones can enhance your results from body contouring treatments like Emsculpt Neo and support overall metabolic health. Our integrative approach ensures all your treatments work synergistically. During your consultation, we'll develop a customized treatment plan that addresses your complete wellness goals.

Pellet Therapy for HRT

One of the most effective forms of BHRT is pellet therapy.  At Hybrid Medical Solution, we offer pellet therapy utilizing a personalized approach in which we perform extensive calculations to formulate each individual’s dose.

The pellets we use in our practice are sourced from FDA- registered outsourcing facilities that must compound the pellets pursuant to specific manufacturing processes that adhere to stringent quality control standards. The pellets are manufactured to potency standards stricter than the industry standards of +/- 10%. All pellets come from FDA registered 503-B Human Drug Compounding Outsourcing Facilities that conduct regulatory oversight and consistent BHRT compounding volume. These pellets have been proven to be safe, effective, and precise. We believe the pellets we use are of the highest quality available.

Hormone pellets are inserted just below the skin during a simple in-office procedure that takes approximately 5 minutes. Pellets maintain their efficacy for 3-4 months in women and 5-6 months in men. They dissolve gradually over time and the circulating hormones remain at therapeutic levels 24 hours a day during the lifespan of the pellet.  This allows the body to absorb the right amount of hormones at the right time.

Pellet therapy was the first form of hormone replacement therapy (HRT) and developed in 1939.  For over 80 years, pellet therapy has remained safe and effective.  Very few medications have survived unchanged with time and a pristine record.  At Hybrid Medical Solution we have inserted several thousand pellets in our patients.

The Pellet Therapy Procedure

Hormone pellets are inserted just below the skin on the hip, buttocks, or flank during a simple in-office procedure that takes approximately 5 minutes.  The treatment area is first numbed using a local anesthetic.  The small pellet is then inserted through an incision that is smaller than the width of your pinky fingernail.  The insertion site is then covered with a bandage and does not require any stitches.  The procedure is relatively painless and most people go about their normal activities immediately upon leaving the office.

Once inserted, the pellet will begin to dissolve very slowly. The body will gradually absorb the hormones over time until the pellet is completely dissolved.  Pellets never need to be removed from the body. Patients will expect to feel continuous relief from their hormone imbalance symptoms right up until the time the pellet has been fully absorbed.

In most cases, patients notice an improvement in their symptoms within 14-21 days. Typically, the symptoms dramatically improve after the second insertion. There are very few restrictions on activity post pellet procedure. This can be discussed at your consultation.
